Progress in functional roof design:
The Photovoltaic In-roof System Combination complies with the austere fire standard for hard roofing
The latest test result of the Currenta test laboratory for fire technology proves that, with the impact of fire from the outside, the Photovoltaic In-roof System Combination of Renusol and the Sonnenstromfabrik meets the same fire prevention requirements than provided by hard-roof structures with roof tiles. The result is a further outstanding feature of the sophisticated and functional roof layout with integrated photovoltaic systems.
They tested the combination of the Renusol InterSole SE In-roof Mounting System (ISSE) and the Sonnenstromfabrik Glass/Glass Photovoltaic Modules of the Excellent series. All tests were performed as per CEN/TS 1187:2012 and have been passed successfully. With this, the combination of the PV In-roof solutions of Renusol and the Sonnenstromfabrik fulfils the EN standard 13501-5:2016 (Fire classification of construction products and building elements) and received the classification B ROOF (t1). Therewith, the combination of the two photovoltaic solutions means safety for the customer and its material assets.
The InterSole SE In-roof Mounting System is a complete mounting system to integrate photovoltaic modules of all sizes flexibly in the structure of pitched roofs. The gutter tiles are removed and replaced by InterSole plates which ensure the water tightness of the roof. The Inter-Sole plates are hooked in the roof laths like gutter tiles. An especially produced aluminium anchor is laid on the InterSole and screwed on by screws through the InterSole into the roof structure. The anchors carry aluminium rails on which the modules are mounted. They also serve as mounting aid for the installer. The system can be seen as proved to be successful in the marketplace due to its water tightness verified for nearly twenty years.
Sonnenstromfabrik Photovoltaic modules of the „Excellent Glass/Glass“ series stand for an outstanding performance level and maximum sustainability because their lifetime is twice as long as the standard in its industry segment and provides more than 60% of additional profit, as well as CO2-optimised production processes. Hardened and scratch-resistant solar glass of 2 mm thickness is used on the top and bottom side of the modules. The stability of the modules is designed for in-creased requirements up to a test load of 8,100 Pascal. Furthermore, a double glass compound protects the cells from microcracks. PID-free, polycrystalline, high-performance cells as well as the anti-reflection coated and weak-light-optimised solar glass provide for high yield above average.
In many countries, the topics Fire Rating Class and Fire Protection gain more and more importance. With this test, Renusol and the Sonnenstromfabrik once more emphasize their high commitment for safety, technical expertise and professional partnership.
The products are immediately available for different sizes and designs of module.

About the Sonnenstromfabrik
The Sonnenstromfabrik (CS Wismar GmbH) is the most modern, leading manufacturer of photovolta-ic modules of high quality in Europe. The module factory in the North German city Wismar has estab-lished as quality leader. Today, the Sonnenstromfabrik is providing the most comprehensive portfolio of glass/glass modules in its industrial segment and is producing products with its own trademark as well as subcontracted modules for other solar manufacturers. The manufacturing plant in Wismar was originally founded about 25 years ago. Also for glass/film modules, the Sonnenstromfabrik conse-quently relies to quality, design and performance. Special modules, off-grid modules and in-roof modules complete the portfolio of the Sonnenstromfabrik. As the first enterprise in the industrial seg-ment, the Sonnenstromfabrik has newly defined the topic of sustainability, as well as optimised and certified its production processes for minimum CO2 emission.
Compared with conventional solar modules, among others, the products of the Sonnenstromfabrik convince through a particularly longer lifetime and high efficiency.
