Our new RH Flat roof hook: another universal mounting product!

We ended 2022 with big promises for the year ahead, having just celebrated our 25-year anniversary and amassed a company-wide enthusiasm to make our next quarter-century just as successful.

Now 2023 has begun, we have wasted no time in delivering on these promises — with our first product of the year, the RH Flat, already on the horizon.

So, what benefits does this new roof hook offer — and how does it support our ethos of ‘Simple, Solid, Service’?

The RH Flat roof hook

First and foremost, the new RH Flat roof hook is a universal mounting solution — meaning this product can be used on any installation site.

We are sure it comes as no surprise to our customers that universality was a top priority when developing the RH Flat, as this convenient feature gives installers the most flexibility to use one mounting solution for all projects.

The RH Flat owes much of its flexibility to its optimised base plate. With a lower height of 23.5 mm and a narrower width of 58 mm, this product fits seamlessly into installations with smaller battens and thinner tiles.

Another huge perk of the RH Flat is its adjustable arm, which can be set to 5 or 11 degrees by simply turning the base plate 180 degrees, and its adjustable height, which can be set to 25.6 mm, 31.9 mm or 38.2 mm.

Such an array of configuration options reduces the need to use spacers during installation, which is particularly beneficial to installers working on uneven roofs. Plus, fewer tiles need to be cut when using the RH Flat, which maintains the integrity of the roof surface.

To highlight the need for a lower amount of roof hooks, we have conducted a PV-Configurator study on seven pitched roof sample projects in the UK with different combinations of wind and snow loads.  

We were looking at the necessary number of RH Flat roof hooks compared to our UK plain tile HL roof hooks. Both have the same application area.

As a result, up to a 41% reduction in the number of roof hooks needed can be achieved with this new product, depending on the wind and snow load.

The tool already optimizes the entire ordering process for installers, leading to significant cost and time savings. But, in line with our ethos, we recently added a new element to this much-loved tool — cross-linking the configurator with SMA's Sunny Design.
