By now, we’re sure everyone has had quite enough of 2020. It has been a year of significant change and plenty of learning, with all industries adapting to work within our new normal way of living.
So, what has Renusol been up to over the last 12 months?
Expanding the portfolio
Ready for bigger modules
New generations of wafers have led to enlarged modules. For the next few years, further growth of the wafer size – and along with it, module size – is expected. We have already prepared for bigger modules with a new set of standard rail lengths: one of our contributions to cost efficiency and ease of installation.
60mm rail bearing 60% higher loads
This year also saw the arrival of our brand-new VS+ rail — now with 10mm extra height (60 x 38mm)! Thanks to its higher profile, the new rail boasts an impressive 60% increased load-bearing capacity compared to the 50mm version. This feature means more projects can be completed faster and at a lower price. The 60mm rail is the perfect component for projects facing significant snow or wind loads. What’s more, when used with high load-capacity fixing points and roof hooks, the rail’s wider span further reduces the number of fixing points required thus saving cost.
High load flat roof system
Alongside the VS+, the flat roof system FS+ has been enhanced for higher loads. It is now suitable for high wind load zones as well as higher buildings up to 50m. Furthermore, the ballast kits have likewise been optimised to be more cost effective and for better placement of the ballast blocks.
Potential equalisation made simple
Renusol’s new “P-Clip” can easily be inserted into the module clamp. As such, the potential equalisation can be guaranteed without the extra work. A solid solution, simple to install.
Continuous expansion of tests and certifications
We are continuously working on making our systems safer and safer. Among others, we performed fire tests with our on-roof and in-roof systems, certified our fixings with new module types, continued our regular aging analyses, extended the self-testing algorithms in the configuration software and much more. Safety and solidity of our systems remains to be paramount for us.
Collaborating with leading names
At Renusol, we have been working hard to enhance our reputation as a top PV mounting manufacturer. One of the central aspects of innovation and producing fresh ideas is working with other solar manufacturers to gain clearer industry insight and collaborate to create exceptional solutions.
Earlier in 2020, we worked with CREATON in the customizing of the company’s in-roof PV system “ISSE”. Our ISSE is typically combined with CREATON’s glazed clay bricks forming an optically appealing appearance. Renusol’s mounting components are combined with modules of Sonnenstromfabrik and inverters from Enphase Energy.
No-ballast flat roof solution
Renusol’s continuing collaborative effort with Nicholson has also been an enormous success over the year. Nicholson manufactures and supplies state-of-the-art roofing systems for the construction and renewable energy industries, and Renusol has routinely used its ROOFTRAK™ Integrated Fixing Point system. This piece of equipment allows a direct connection to the roof structure under the weathering membrane without compromising the waterproofing layer and is perfect for securing PV solar panels. Thanks to the combination of Renusol and Nicholson, no further ballast is needed on the roof.
Enhancing the PV-Configurator
Our unique PV-Configurator 3.0 has seen regular updates to improve the offering to Renusol customers further. Out of our continuous improvement, we would like to highlight a few of the new features:
In-roof ISSE online
In many small and bigger updates we have extended the application. Now also the renowned ISSE In Roof system is available with full fledged static analysis, which considers even the dimensioning of the battens.
Helping you design a bespoke mounting system in a matter of minutes, this software now also includes an extensive database of modules from established solar manufacturers. We have implemented a new module database of over 110,000 panels, each featuring all the relevant information and data, meaning users do not need to input module data manually. Of course, each user can highlight favourites for their own shortlist. With the freedom and flexibility to edit any module data where required, this update will save customers even more time and money by further reducing the scope for error.
Third party fixings
We have also incorporated third party fixings points (e.g. Nicholson; see above) into the PV-Configurator. This was a much-appreciated update, meaning you can now calculate an exact number of Renusol approved and incorporated fixings required based on local wind and snow loads.
Unveiling the new website
At the beginning of 2020, we turned our attention to refreshing our website.
No more than three clicks to arrive
The site has now been optimised to make finding the right Renusol products more straightforward than ever. It takes just one or two clicks to the right product and a third to arrive at the data sheet or manual. What’s more, the website received a makeover including enhanced guidance to find the best solution, references and explanations and is now accessible in multiple languages.
