All-new fire testing certification
In February last year, we performed a series of fire tests in collaboration with world-renowned module manufacturer JA Solar.

In February last year, we performed a series of fire tests in collaboration with world-renowned module manufacturer JA Solar. This initial testing was run against CEN/TS 1187:2012 to fulfil the EN 13501-5:2016 classification standard — higher than the current fire rating for solar modules. In addition, the tests certified the fire safety of the JA Solar poly-cell range (‘JAP’).

We recently worked with JA Solar again to run further, extensive fire tests to cover additional module types, namely JA Solar’s mono-cell range (‘JAM’).

The esteemed Warringtonfire institute performed the latest series of tests. Warringtonfire is an international testing, inspection and certification body that works to certify that products and services are always safe, compliant, high-quality and fit-for-purpose.

We decided to run these tests to obtain a fire classification for on-roof PV systems, using the Renusol VS+ with roof tiles and battens and the MS+P range with sandwich panels. The result of the tests was that the applied fire did not penetrate the building. As this meets the fire test safety requirement, we passed the threshold with flying colours and a BROOF(T4) Classification according to EN 13501-5:2016.
